The company response to an emergency shall be directed towards:

  • Saving life of personnel
  • Caring for the injured
  • Protection of the environment
  • Limitation of damage to assets
  • Defence of company reputation

MUSTER POINTS shall be clearly marked at points on site.

Regular drill exercises shall be carried out to ascertain effectiveness of emergency procedures.

These procedures shall apply in an emergency requiring med-evacuation:

EVACUATION BY LAND TRANSPORT

In situations whereby victim is at danger of death and cannot be handled by retainer clinic or client medical facilities on site, contractor Med-evac shall be called up through Project Engineer.

EVACUATION BY WATER

The following evacuation procedures shall be followed after the victim has duly received medical treatment in retainer or client clinic but still needs specialist medical referral:

  • The victim is evacuated by speedboat on stretcher if need be.
  • The base is contacted immediately to get the ambulance ready to convey the victim to company’s clinic as the victim leaves the site
  • The company’s doctor takes over on receiving the victim.
