The company’s project objective is to ensure an accident-free record, bearing in mind that accidents produce economic and social loss; individual impairment; and group productivity, which retard individual progress and corporate man-hour.
Based on this, there is need to put control measures in place to prevent marine accidents involving protect personnel, equipment and materials.
The following personal flotation devices must be ensured in any of the company’s or hired boats and offshore/swamp work locations:
Approved PFD type “1” life preserver or type “V” work vest shall be worn at work.
- PFD shall be worn while travelling offshore on boat, transferring to or from any watercraft, working on water/swamp locations and when fire and/or evacuation drills are being conducted.
- PFD shall be snugly fitted and securely fastened. Supervisors shall ensure all personnel are properly equipped.
- When working on jack-up barge, it is necessary to wear a PFD on the deck when the barge is jacking-up or down.
